WordVision Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 3, 2026

WordVision ("the app") is built by Shreyansh Mishra. This policy explains what information the app handles. In short: WordVision does not collect, store, or share any personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no ads, and no tracking.

Camera

WordVision uses your camera to recognize text in books and other printed material so you can tap a word to see its definition. Text recognition happens entirely on your device using Apple's Vision framework. Camera images are never saved, and they are never sent off your device.

Word lookups

Definitions come first from a dictionary that is built into the app and works offline. If a word isn't in that dictionary and you're online, the app may send only that single word to WordsAPI, through RapidAPI, to fetch its definition. The request includes no information that identifies you. As with any internet request, those providers may see your device's IP address. Their handling of that data is covered by their own privacy policies (RapidAPI Privacy Policy).

Your saved words

Words you save for learning, your review progress and your review schedule are stored only on your device. We have no servers that receive this data, and it is not synced to iCloud. Deleting the app deletes this data.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, WordVision schedules review reminders locally on your device. No push notification service or server is involved.

Motion sensors

The app reads your device's motion sensors on the device to keep the camera view steady while scanning. This data is not stored or transmitted.

Data collection and tracking

WordVision does not collect personal information, does not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs, and does not track you across apps or websites.

Children's privacy

WordVision does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
